The Fujin is a decent ship for its class. While the speed and AP are typical of its class, the gun it's toting is what makes it notable. Very few other corvettes can present themselves as a real threat outside of boarding, and for this reason the Fujin deserves consideration when building a list. However, the Fujin does have one huge problem: It's competing with the Uwatsu for its place. While the Fujin does have a couple niches that the Uwatsu doesn't fill, their roles are similar enough that in many cases, the Fujin just feels like an underperforming Uwatsu.
The Fujin has no notable movement options outside of Sharp Turn. Given that it's sole weapon is a turret and it already has a high speed, however, Sharp Turn is of dubious use to the ship. Outside of avoiding collisions after a boarding attempt, it doesn't make much difference for the Fujin.
Much like other Corvettes, the Fujin has a bit of a double-edged sword when it comes to defenses. While Small Target and Elusive Target make it a pain to hit, especially in RB1, the painfully low CR means that it's likely to go boom if it's caught by even a mediocre shot. The Fujin seems to hurt more than others though, as it lacks the bonus CR the rest of the fleet enjoys. This isn't a problem exclusive to the Fujin however, as other factions with similar buffs to DR or CR see their corvettes lacking it as well.
As mentioned above, the Fujin packs a punch in shooting on top of it being a boarding threat. Sporting 15/9/6/- on its gun, it can blow small ships out of the water and punch holes in mediums with no real difficulty. Even large ships run the risk of taking damage in RB1. And again, thanks to its 10 AP of reckless boarders, a fresh squad of Fujin can easily cripple or remove two ships in one go, with a little nudge from lady luck.
- Good firepower combined with good boarding makes for a serious threat in RB1 and a great tool for pressure in RB2.
- Low cost for what it's capable of.
- Can be difficult to justify taking it over other smalls in the force, notably the Uwatsu.
- While Elusive and Small Target make it hard to hit, having 2 less CR than nearly every other small in the force makes it awfully fragile by comparison.
